Eddie Phillips Obituary
Mr. Eddie Phillips, age 66, of the Normantown Community, died Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital after a sudden illness. He was a native of Soperton and lived in Vidalia most of his life. He was a brick mason and carpenter. He enjoyed playing guitar, cooking and shopping. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Mark Phillips and Willie Mae Smith Phillips; brothers, Howard Gillis, Avon Gillis, Kenny Phillips and D.F. Phillips; his former wife, Virginia “Ginger” Hartley; and beloved friend, Judy Dykes.
His family includes two sisters, Mearlene Hullender of Vidalia and Betty Lindsey of Normantown; one brother, Melvin Phillips and wife Jane of Ringgold; one stepson, Peewee Dykes of Hazlehurst; two step-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
