Mrs. Dorothy Allmond Atkins, age 95, of Montgomery County, died Saturday, June 20, 2026, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family. She was born in the Kibbee Community on November 14, 1930, to the late Charles Roney Allmond and Lucinda Adams Allmond. She lived in Montgomery County all of her life and was a 1947 graduate of Montgomery County High School in Kibbee. She was a former member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and was a current and charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Kibbee, serving as secretary and treasurer for twenty-four years. She worked at Soperton Manufacturing, Lee Ace Hardware in Vidalia, and was a proud farmer’s wife for more than sixty-three years. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, quilting, and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Atkins; two great-grandsons, Jake and Cole Mimbs; four sisters, Muriel Allmond Wilkes, Lucindy Allmond Hightower, Hazel Allmond Thigpen, and Patsy Allmond Campbell; and one brother, J.E. Allmond.
She is survived by three children, Deborah Atkins Mimbs and husband Roy of Montgomery County, Jerry Atkins and wife Karen of Dublin, and Larry Atkins and wife Lizzie of Waycross; ten grandchildren, Melanie Hutcheson and husband Ricky of Montgomery County, Darrell Mimbs and wife Maranda of Vidalia, Jeremy Atkins of New York, Ian Atkins and wife Samantha of Savannah, and Lydia Atkins of Waycross, Tyler Young and Vendela Young of Dublin, Corbin Allen, Calista Allen, and Zeke Allen, all of Waycross; three great-grandchildren, Breannah Hutcheson, Lane Mimbs, and Clay Mimbs; one brother-in-law, Joseph Atkins and wife Charlotte of Guyton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Williams and husband Chuck of Sugar Hill, and Rita Watson and husband Charles of Dublin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Dupree and her son-in-law, Roy Mimbs officiating. Interment will follow at Cornerstone Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Dupree and Gaynor Ridgdill.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Clay Mimbs, Ian Atkins, Jeff Atkins, Ricky Hutcheson, William Braddy, and J.H. Memory.
