Mrs. DeAnn Marcum Odom, age 77, of Lyons, died Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia from an accident. She was a native of Toombs County, growing up the Johnson Corner Community, and she lived in Lyons most of her life. She attended Toombs Central School and retired as lunchroom manager from Toombs County Middle School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyons and attended Rocky Creek Baptist Church where she sang specials and in the choir. She is a former Worthy Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed baking, especially for friends and family, as well as countless special events cakes.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Ronald W. Odom; parents, John Howard Marcum, Sr. and Pelma Dallas Ansley Marcum; two sisters, Susan Cheryl Marcum and Pamela Sharon “Pam” Griggers; two brothers, John Howard Marcum, Jr. and an infant brother; and brother-in-law, Enoch Cowart.
Mrs. Odom is survived by four children, Olen Wayne Odom and fiancé Tonia Thomas of Webb, Alabama, Tonya Brannon and husband Tony of Cedar Crossing, Brian Howard Odom and Christopher Lee Odom, both of Lyons; two sisters, Donna “Polly” Marcum Cowart of Collins, and Brenda Marcum Waters of Glennville; seven grandchildren, Heather Williams and husband Wesley, Tyler James and wife Brooke, Britt Brannon, all of Lyons, Jonathon Odom (USN) and wife Taelor (USN), San Diego, California, Ashlyn Odom, Dakota Brannon, and Michael Odom, all of Lyons; six great-grandchildren, a great-granddaughter to be born in September; one brother-in-law, Johnny Griggers of Lyons; one sister-in-law, Wanda Bass of Milledgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, at 10:00 at Hardens Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Rick Wilson and Charles Newsome officiating.
The family will assemble at the residence of the daughter, Tonya Brannon, 1434 Sam Beasley Road, Lyons.
