Mr. David A. Burke, age 76, of Vidalia, died Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County living near Vidalia most of his life, and was a 1964 graduate Lyons High School. He worked as a meat cutter at JC Sowell Meats for fifty years, and currently was a meat cutter at Thriftway in Lyons. David enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing at the Altamaha River. He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Vaughn Burke; and parents, Carl Rahn Burke and Willie Mae Burgess Burke.
His family includes one daughter, Michelle L. Burke and Matt Peebles; one grandson, Cameron Burkett, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Henrietta “Henri” Burke Tabor and Margaret Burke Adams McLendon; one brother, Frank Burke, all of Lyons; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Hitchcock, Matt Peebles, Vic Adams, Hunter Hitchcock, Danny Taylor, Michael Grimes, and Josh Grimes.
