David Morgan Obituary

Veteran Sergeant First Class David H. Morgan, longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on February 4, 2025, surrounded by family.  David, as he was known to many in the Vidalia area, was born August 4, 1951 to William Morgan and Jo Lee Morgan.  He attended Theodore High School in Theodore, AL before enlisting in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and reconnaissance instructor. The U.S. Army awarded David a Soldier's Medal in 1984 for his heroic action that saved the lives of several servicemen critically injured when a live grenade exploded during a training exercise in the Yakima Dessert, WA.  David didn't speak much about this particular moment, but he did speak proudly about his service and his amazing experiences to anyone who would listen and was always active in his local airborne veteran group.

David was preceded in death by his wife and one true love, Barbara J. Morgan.  David and Barbara met in high school in Theodore, AL and married on August 4, 1972.

Together, they built a wonderful life raising two daughters, Barbara Ann Pinero and Tonya Morgan.  David is survived by his two daughters, his son-in-law, Javier Pinero, three grandchildren: Dean Dougall, Owen Pinero and Maya Pinero and three great-grandchildren: Isabella, Dean Jr. and Noah. David is also survived by his brothers, Shawn Morgan and Joey Morgan and his sister, Julia Morgan residing in Vidalia, GA and another sister, Nancy Morris residing in Maine.
