Mr. Darrell Wayne O’Neal, age 67, of Reidsville, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Oxley Health & Rehab in Lyons after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, attended Vidalia High School, and lived in Vidalia until moving to Tattnall County in 1981. He retired after twenty-two years as a correctional officer from Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. He was Baptist by faith; and he enjoyed fishing, going to the Huddle House in Reidsville, going on vacation, cruises, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Braves. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Talmadge O’Neal and Regina Pearl Nasworthy O’Neal; and three brothers, Reggie, Gerald, and Joey O’Neal.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Joyce G. O’Neal; one sister, Patricia O’Neal Kennedy and husband Jan, all of Reidsville; four sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at 3:00 at Reidsville City Cemetery with his nephew, Pastor Brian O’Neal officiating.
