Daniel "Boonie" Matthews Obituary

Mr. Daniel “Boonie” Matthews, age 52, of the Normantown Community, died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his home after a sudden illness.  He was a native of Toombs County and lived all of his life in Normantown.  He was an industrial electrician, a member of IBEW Local #1579, worked at nuclear power plants around the country, and currently was working at Plant Vogtle.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, grilling, gardening, and he was a Christian.  Preceding him death was his childhood sweetheart and wife of thirty years, Beverly “Doodle” Clark Matthews; and father, Danny Byron Matthews.

His family includes two children, Justin Daniel Matthews and wife Jordan of Normantown, and Dawn Matthews Graham and husband Richard of Lyons; his mother, Dale Monroe Matthews of Lyons; six grandchildren, Cali Love, Coewyn Manring, Caedyn Daniel Manring, Ava Matthews, Ben Graham, and Allie-Ann Graham; one sister, Darlene Smith and husband Lee of Lyons; two brothers, David Matthews and wife Sandy, and Dean Matthews, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be Sunday, April 10th, at 3:00 p.m. at Ohoopee Community Cemetery with Pastor Michael Godbee officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30.
