Mr. Dan “Grand Dan” Gray, age 83, of Cedar Crossing, died Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. He was a native of Cedar Crossing, moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1946. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for Claude Nolan Cadillac in Jacksonville and NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton as a line tech, and later worked at Walmart in Vidalia. Dan was a former member of Jacksonville First Baptist Church and was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching westerns, but he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Zack Gray and Ina Barnes Gray; and sisters, Mary Ellen Gray Whitaker, Margaret Gray Lanier and Pauline Gray Dunn.
His family includes his wife of ten years, Teresa Varnadore Gray of Uvalda; daughter, Kerlin Gray of Peachtree City; one brother, Delmar Gray and wife Cherie of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Kayla C. Duero and husband Rudy of Savannah, Steven Gauvin and wife Sarah, and Joseph Gauvin, all of Fayetteville, Georgia; eleven great-grandchildren, Elijah Carl Gauvin, Lucy Looper, Benjamin Gauvin, Avelyn Gauvin, Levi Gauvin, Loralina Duero, Abigail Duero, Titus Duero, Everett Duero, Aubrey Duero and Elias Duero; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, October 5th from 3:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 4:00 at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Melvin Kramer officiating.
