Mr. Damon C. Powell, age 50, of Vidalia, died Sunday, April 17, 2022, at his home after a sudden illness. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and lived there until moving to Vidalia in 2009. He worked for FMC Corporation in Jacksonville as a truck driver for seventeen years, and more recently he worked with DOT Foods and Lark Builders. He attended Calvary on Aimwell and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry W. Powell.
His family includes his wife of thirty-five years, Frances C. Powell of Vidalia; three children, Damon Powell and Cody J. Powell, both of Statesboro, and Brooke S. Powell of Vidalia; one granddaughter, Britleigh Powell of Vidalia; his mother, Sharon M. Stewart and husband John of Hiawassee; and one sister, Christen S. Winters of Auburn, Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, April 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Efton Green officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 2:00 p.m. until just prior to the service.
