Daisy (Herndon) Atkinson

Mrs. Daisy Herndon Atkinson, age 90, of Soperton, died Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in Westbury Medical Care and Rehabilitation in Jackson, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Treutlen County where she lived most of her life, living in Toombs County for twenty years, Lake Sinclair for ten years and in Jackson for the past fifteen years.  She was a faithful member of the Zaidee Advent Christian Church in Treutlen County and she was a homemaker.   Mrs. Atkinson enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, reading her Bible and listening to Southern Gospel music.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd U. Atkinson, Sr.; two sons, Floyd U. Atkinson, Jr. and an infant son; a grandson, William Henry Atkinson; parents, Reverend William Herndon and Donna Calhoun Herndon; and was the last of ten brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Atkinson is survived by two sons, Gerald Atkinson and wife Lee of Newnan, and Jerry Atkinson and wife Marston of McDonough; four grandchildren, Erin Floyd and husband Ben of Hampton, Alicia Atkinson, Adam Atkinson and wife Felisha, all of South Carolina, and Emily Gracen Atkinson of McDonough; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Zaidee Advent Christian Church with Reverend Ed Neal and John Herndon officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from Noon until just prior to the service.
