Corbit Mason Obituary

Mr. Corbit Mason, age 80, of Lyons, died Saturday, April 11, 2020, at his home after a brief illness.  He was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons all of his life.  Early in his life, he worked for Welch B. Green and served in the Army National Guard.  He was a master carpenter, was a self-employed builder and built several homes in the area.  He was a member of East Gordon Street Baptist Church in Lyons and more recently attended Greater Life in Lyons.  He enjoyed gardening and planted every year to provide for his family and friends.  He enjoyed wood working, projects with his grandchildren, and studying his bible to share the word of the Lord with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Mason and Aileen Pittman Mason; a sister-in-law, Louise Mason; and a brother-in-law, Ira Aaron.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Elizabeth Phillips Mason; two children, Temple Mason Clark and husband Randy, and Miley Corbit Mason, all of Lyons; three grandchildren, Halaina Tiger and husband Michael of Cartersville, Amanda McDonald and husband John, and Stone Clark and wife Jada, two great-grandchildren, Slade McDonald and Major McDonald; all of Lyons; one brother, Ben Mason and one sister, Jeanette Mason Aaron, both of Lyons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 15th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Rickey Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
