Mr. Charles Frank “Chuck” Girndt, age 74, of Lyons, died Thursday, September 2, 2021, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Oxford, New York, and was a 1964 graduate of Oxford High School. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving during the Vietnam era, and lived in Toombs County most of his life. He was Body Shop Manager at Threlkeld Motor Company for twenty years, and was at David Thompson Collision Repair and Raines Body Shop for several years. He was a former member of the First Assembly of God in Vidalia. Chuck enjoyed his dogs, and repairing anything he set his mind to. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Anne Girndt-Weiner; mother, Ella Mary Bond Tytler; and father, Paul Edward Girndt.
His family includes three children, Charles “Chip” Girndt and fiance' Jeffrey Waller of Vidalia, Brandon Thompson of Lyons, and April Smith and fiancé Jamey of Vidalia; one sister, Nancy Girndt Schuessler and husband Jon of Atlanta; one brother, Michael Girndt of Unadilla, New York; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennie, Zach, Jerry, Mia, and Riley; eight great-grandchildren, and two nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, September 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pastor Michael Branson will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at the cemetery from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
