Cheryl (Jones) Clifton

Cheryl Jones Clifton, age 79, of Palm Coast, Florida, died on Thursday, October 24, 2024, following an extended illness. Mrs. Clifton was born in Lyons, Georgia and lived in Toombs County most of her life.  She graduated in 1963 from Lyons High School. She attended Georgia Women’s College in Milledgeville, Georgia with a major in education. She was employed by the Toombs County Board of Education as a 6th grade English teacher.  She later earned a Master’s Degree from Georgia Southern University and she finished her career in education as the Toombs County Middle School Assistant Principal. She had a heart for children and loved to see them learn new things. She was a member and officer in the Lyons Chapter of Beta Signa Phi Sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church/Lyons Community Church. She was gifted in working with flowers. She loved and found joy in cats. She is preceded in death by her father, John Paul Jones and her mother, Margarite Horton Jones; and a sister, Jan Jones Truax.

She is survived by her niece, Alyssa Truax, and a brother-in-law, Dickie Truax.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:30.

A graveside funeral service will be Friday morning, November 1st, 2024, at 11:00 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Brian Durden officiating.
