Charles E. Cowart

Mr. Charles E. Cowart, Sr., age 68, of Lyons, died Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Treutlen County Health and Rehab after a brief illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and attended Vidalia High School and Lyons High School.  He was a painter for forty-six years and was self-employed for the last twenty-five years. Early in his life, he attended Calvary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, planting flowers, yard work, and spending time with his many grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Kibbie Cowart and Pauline Graham Cowart; and two brothers, Jerry Cowart and Butch Cowart.

His family includes four children, Chad Cowart and wife Miranda of Lyons, Heather Lashley and husband Bobby of Dublin, Shaun Cowart of Uvalda and Steven Cowart of Lyons; seven siblings, Bobby Cowart and wife Janice of Pooler, Betty Ferguson of Flowery Branch, Monroe Ferguson and wife Florence of Stockbridge, Larry Cowart and “Tootsie” Cowart, both of Lyons, “Skippy” Cowart and wife Alice of Wilmington Island and Sheila Cowart James of Vidalia; seventeen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
