Mr. Charles Wayne Gladden, age 78, died Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was born on November 17, 1947 in Konawa, Oklahoma and was a 1965 graduate Konawa High School where he played football and ran track and field. He worked many years in the oil industry in Oklahoma before moving to Georgia where had a thirty year career as a maintenance mechanic at Edwin I. Hatch Plant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing the Altamaha River, cooking, and spending all the time he could with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by two wives, Shirley Morris Gladden of Lyons and Sharron Lee Butler Gladden of Konawa; son, Joseph “Joey” Gladden of Konawa; father, Voyt Wesley Gladden; and mother, Virginia Lee Conn Rupert.
Mr. Gladden is survived by his wife, Tammy Dees of Lyons; one son, John Gladden and wife Melinda of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Robert Gladden of Asher, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Amanda Walling, Devin Gladden and wife Josefina, all of Texas, and Breyson Gladden, Cainan Gladden, and Raylee Gladden, all of Mt. Vernon; and numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Interment will follow later in Oklahoma at Konawa City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
