Mrs. Carolyn O’Neal Sears, age 82, of the McGregor Community, died Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Glenwood Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery and lived in McGregor all of her life. She worked at Ailey Manufacturing, retired after twenty-seven years from Oxford Industries in Vidalia, and worked four years as a Montgomery County Registrar. She was a lifelong member of McGregor Presbyterian Church where she taught adult Sunday school. She enjoyed reading her Bible, flowers, yard work, cooking, baking, and puzzles.
Mrs. Sears is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Harvey C. Sears, Jr.; an infant son, Jonathan Carl Sears; granddaughter, Cassy Dorsey; parents, Henry Everett O’Neal, Sr. and Mary Lizzie “Teek” Woods O’Neal; four siblings, Henry Everett “H.E.” O’Neal, Jr., Sarah Elizabeth “Ebbie” O’Neal Hughes, Lamar “Scooby” O’Neal, and Betty O’Neal Burke, and three nephews.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Dorsey and husband Terry of Lyons, and Cheryl Sears Gore and husband Scott of McGregor; two siblings, Annette O’Neal Harrell of Vidalia, and Lee O’Neal and wife Nancy of the Petross Community; three grandchildren, Buck Dorsey of Lyons, Mason Gore and wife Mariah of Vidalia, and Kate Dorsey and husband Jaland of Lyons; five great-grandchildren, Harmony Dorsey, Jrake Kelly, Ava Kelly, Rylee Gore, and Bailee Gore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:30.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 at McCrimmon Cemetery near Higgston with Pastor Wayne McDaniel officiating.
