Carolyn Blocker Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Moore Blocker, age 82, of the Kibbee Community, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack D. and Mary Eason Moore, a sister, Joyce Wilkes, and by two infant siblings, Linda and Jack.

Carolyn was born in 1939 in Delray Beach, Florida. She was a 1957 graduate of Lyons High School, graduating with honors. Carolyn attended Brewton Parker College and Georgia Teachers College, currently Georgia Southern. She previously worked at Belk Mathews, was a community events writer for the Vidalia Advance, worked for the Montgomery County Board of Education with Title 1, and was a substitute teacher. She was co-owner of T.A. Blocker’s General Store along with her husband Gary. She spent the last several years as a homemaker. Carolyn was talented at making jewelry, which she sold at Blocker’s, and was talented at sewing for herself and others. She spent many hours making and sending cards to those who needed encouragement. Carolyn was a true servant of the Lord devoting her time to teaching Sunday School for many years, leading G.A.'s for girls in church and always serving others using the talents and abilities the Lord gave her. She was passionate about showing the love of Christ to others and was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Gary Blocker; two daughters, Jackie Rowe and husband Terry; Angie McKie and husband Mark; a grandson, Stuart McKie and wife Haley; a granddaughter Brooke McKie; and three great-grandchildren, Asa, Ada, and Ayla McKie; her sister Barbara Findley and husband, William; brother-in-law Jim Wilkes; brother Donald Moore and wife Vicki; sister Terri Moore and husband Mark Ricketts; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30.

A graveside funeral service will be Sunday, October 3rd, at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Gaynor Ridgdill officiating.
