Mrs. Carmie Humphrey Foskey, age 91, of the Charlotteville Community, died Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Bolingreen Health & Rehab in Macon after an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County, raised in the Kibbee Community, and was a graduate of Kibbee High School. She worked at Ailey Manufacturing for several years, before deciding to pursue a career in education. She was a graduate of Brewton-Parker College, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and a Master’s degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern State University. She taught third grade at Jeff Davis Elementary, retired after twenty-five years, and continued her teaching at Toombs Central School for several years. She was a member of Georgia Retired Teachers Association and Uvalda Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and quilting with her friends at Charlotte United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Foskey; grandson, Ricky Parker Foskey; parents, Bill Humphrey and Mollie Mills Humphrey; and four siblings, Jane Humphrey Wilcher, Goldie Humphrey, Bubbie Humphrey Clark, and Bobby Humphrey.
Her family includes two children, Teresa Poole and husband Dale of Charlotteville, and Ricky Foskey and Stephanie of Macon; three sisters, Pat Humphrey Poole of Uvalda, Elizabeth Humphrey Simpson and husband Dan of Hazlehurst, and Cynthia Humphrey Manning of Douglas; three grandchildren, Tessa Sanders of Charlotteville, Kelvin Sanders of Uvalda, and Suzanna Foskey of Macon; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 24th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Adrian Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Uvalda City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
