Carlene “Corky” Keyes, age 75, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah after an extended illness. She was born on June 21, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up there and Waterloo, Iowa. She was a 1968 graduate of Kennedy High School and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. She moved to Texas City, Texas in 1976, and returned to Cedar Rapids in 1983. She lived in New Hampshire and Cap Cod, Massachusetts before making Vidalia her home in 1988. Earlier in her life, she was a medical assistant and more recently had worked more than twenty years with NNZ Industrial Packaging in Vidalia. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and the outdoors, especially fishing and being at the beach. She enjoyed drawing, and was a prolific writer of poems, short stories, and current events.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Donald Bills and Phyllis Jean McCauly Bills; and a sister, Susan Liebert.
Ms. Keyes is survived by five children, Jason Keyes of Kansas, Jackie Caraway and husband Clay, Christine Welk and Rod Wallace, all of Vidalia, Angela Nolting Snaggs and husband Sheldon of Florida, and Lisa Jensen and husband Todd of Arizona; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no service.
