Calvin L. Smith

Mr. Calvin L. Smith, age 83, of Lyons, died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness.  He was a native of Soperton and lived in Toombs County most of his life.  He was a carpenter and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections.  He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, gardening, and spending time at the Ohoopee River.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Smith and Jewell Caraway Smith; one sister, Inez Smith; and an infant brother, Theda Quay Smith.

His family includes his wife, Dyanne Smith of Lyons; five daughters, Denise Lundy and husband James, Becky Gay and husband Donnie, Carol Hester and husband Eddie, all of Lyons, Kasey Burke and husband Don of Reidsville, and Lacy O’Neal and husband Brian of Blythe; five stepchildren, Chris Hunt of Kentucky, Karie Emerson of Glenwood, Tracy Raflowitz and husband Brett of Florida, Gina McGill and husband Randy of McRae-Helena, and Tom King of Alaska; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
