Mrs. Brenda Langley Thursby, age 66, of the Toombs Central Community, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, after a sudden illness. She was a native of Astor, Florida and lived there and central Florida until moving to Toombs County in 1990. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse working with the Health Department as a home care nurse in both Vidalia and Baxley. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was a part of the Widow’s Group. She enjoyed redbirds, hummingbirds, fishing, crocheting, and baking. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Thursby, Jr.; her parents Leon Dalton Langley and Vera Irene North; and infant brother, Thomas Langley.
Her family includes her six children, Terri McLendon and husband Jason, Heather Miller and husband Craig, all of the Toombs Central Community; Gordy Thursby and wife Jessica of Johnson Corner; Sarah Vasquez and husband Lindy, and Brandy Edwards, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Scotty McLendon and wife Rebecca of Asheboro, North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Saturday afternoon, July 13th, at 3:00 at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Plowman and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow at Cobb Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
