Mr. Bradley E. Jay, age 94, of Vidalia, died Saturday, June 4, 2022, at his home following an extended illness. Born in Samson, Alabama, he grew up on a dairy farm, and lived there until joining the U.S. Army. Mr. Jay was a veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He returned to Samson, began working with Western Union as a lineman, later as a line crew supervisor all over the southeast U.S., and retired after thirty years. He moved to Vidalia in 1967, was manager of Greyhound/Trailways Terminal in Vidalia, and again retired after thirty years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a former long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, John Jay and Maggie Nantz Jay; sister, Sarah Jay; and brother, Charles Jay.
His family includes his wife of fifty-eight years, Mildred Jay of Vidalia; four sons, Rhett Jay and wife Lynne of Lyons, Stan Jay of Vidalia, John Jay and husband Gary of Clearwater, Florida, and Anthony Jay and wife Vicki of Vidalia; seven grandchildren, Justin Jay and wife Ashley of Uvalda, Joshua Jay of Wheeler County, Jacob Jay and wife Rachel, Jonathan, all of Gainesville, Georgia, Christian Jay and wife Addison of Pooler, Dawson Gibbs and Bradley Jay, both of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a nephew, Gary Jay and wife Sandi of Panama City Beach, Florida.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 7th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Thompson and Christian Jay officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
