Mrs. Bonnie C. Petty, age 77, of Vidalia, died Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Oxley Park Health & Rehab in Lyons following an extended illness. She was a native of Richmond County and lived in Augusta until moving to Vidalia in 1987. She was a 1966 graduate of George P. Butler High School in Augusta. She was a homemaker and attended Morningside Baptist Church in Treutlen County and First Baptist Church of Vidalia. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, macramé, and her many houseplants. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Philip Cadle and Minnie Elizabeth Langham Cadle.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Richard G. Petty, Sr. of Vidalia; two sons, Richard G. Petty, Jr. and Ginger Shealey, and Robert P. Petty and wife Rhonda, all of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Amanda Ogilvie of Tampa, Florida, Richard G. Petty III and Kandace Allen of Montgomery County, Leeanna Kight of Vidalia, Robert P. Petty, Jr. of Soperton, and Rachel Petty of Cayce, South Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Cadle and wife Carole Mayedo of Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Bonnie’s life on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the family home at 1311 Ilise Lane, Vidalia, GA 30474.
