Bobby "Pop" Englett Obituary

On Sunday, October 17, 2021, Mr. Bobby “Pop” Englett passed after a brief illness.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Selma Englett, brother “Red” Elwin Axxon, and granddaughter Elizabeth Kirkley.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Kirkley and husband Gregg, Kim Jennings, Maurice Englett and wife Michelle, and Michael Englett and Melissa, all of Lyons; grandchildren, Archie Kirkley, Natalie Giddens, Draven Ross, Bobby R. Englett, Britney Poole, Jonathan Vasquez, Ashley Marie Cress and Brandon Clark; and numerous great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

He was born March 24, 1941, in McDuffie County GA, and Mr. Englett lived most of his life in Toombs County.  A retired Teamster, Mr. Englett enjoyed visiting with his family, working in his yard and cooking for his family.  He always had a full candy dish for the children who came to visit.  With a sense of humor, Mr. Englett was a prankster and enjoyed a good laugh.  He was known in his neighborhood for turning his house into a haunted house on Halloween.  A fixture in the neighborhood, Mr. Englett would sit on his porch, watching hummingbirds and waving to neighbors as they passed by. In the past months, he would sit there and with a smile he would say “...All in all I have lived a pretty good life.” We smile back and say, “Yes Pop you sure have.”

The family of Mr. Bobby “Pop” Englett will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cruise in for a Cause, c/o Leather Love and Freedom, 901 Mt. Vernon Rd. of Vidalia GA 30474.
