Bobby K. Connell

Mr. Bobby K. Connell, age 81, of Lyons, died Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a sudden illness. He was born on May 5, 1944, in Thomas County, Georgia to the late Arizona Connell and Claudie Bell Brady Connell. As a child, he moved to Toombs County where he lived the rest of his life. He attended Vidalia High School. Bobby was an expert meat cutter and was market manager at Piggly Wiggly in Statesboro for thirty years, and Food Lion in Vidalia for more than ten years. He was a long-time member of Vidalia First Assembly of God. In the 1990s through the middle 2000s, Bobby was active with the Toombs County Booster Club, finding him at football games on Friday nights grilling their famous hamburgers. His passion was tinkering and repairing most anything, from old cars to lawn mowers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five siblings, Herschel Connell, Richard Connell, Betty Connell Bryant, Arizona “Junior” Connell, Jr., and Janice Connell Fulmer.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Mimbs Connell of Lyons; four daughters, Charity Roberts and husband Rodney, Christable Howell and husband Will, all of Dahlonega, Miranda Kight and husband Buddy of Lyons, and Tonya Sharpe Braddy and husband Chris of Tarrytown; four siblings, Nadene Connell Foster, Rebecca Connell Miller, and Neal Connell, all of Vidalia, and Tommy Connell and wife Vicki of Statesboro; nine grandchildren, Ryan Roberts, Tyler Roberts, Josey Howell, Hayden Howell, Hayden Kight, Haylie Kight, Shay Kight, Remi Grace Braddy, and Drex Braddy; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong devoted friend, Jean Phillips.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 15th, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Bazel Connell Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
