Mr. Billy “Bill” Andrew Braddy, age 93, of Vidalia, died Saturday, May 2, 2026, at The Oaks Bethany Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived in Vidalia most of his life. He was born on January 25, 1933, to the late Millard Andrew Braddy and Carrie Elizabeth Drake Braddy. He attended Lyons High School, and soon after entered the U.S. Army where he was a sergeant, serving in the Korean War. He was a salesman at Pages and Max Smith’s Department Stores, and later was owner of Braddy’s Army-Navy Store in downtown Vidalia. He was a member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330 and Alee Shrine in Savannah. He enjoyed fishing, foxhunting, raising foxhounds, and judging foxhounds at field trials.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Darden; and a brother, Jim Braddy.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Melvina Lane Braddy of Vidalia; two children, Alan J. Braddy and wife Delaine of Toombs County, and Sylvia Jarriel and Eddie of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Chris Horton and wife Kym of LaGrange, Hunter Braddy and wife Megan, and Ashtyn Thompson and husband Miles, all of Toombs County; four great-grandchildren, Trendon Darden, Faith Horton, Shawna Giles, and Haze Braddy; three brothers, Bob Braddy of Vidalia, Carl Braddy and wife Peggy of Toombs County, and Don Braddy and wife Pam of Vidalia, one sister-in-law, Janice Braddy of Tallahassee, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, May 5th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
