Billy Wilson

Mr. William Louis “Billy” Wilson, Jr., age 72, of Lyons, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Meadows Health in Vidalia after a brief illness.  He was a lifelong of Lyons, was a 1966 graduate of Lyons High School and attended Gordon Military Academy in Barnesville.  He was a former tobacco farmer and currently was a cattle rancher.  Earlier in his life, Billy raised registered American Pointers and competed in field trial completions.  More recently, he enjoyed playing golf.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons and attended the First Baptist Church of Vidalia where he was a member of the Caring and Sharing Sunday School Class.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittany McLain; and parents, William Louis Wilson, Sr. and Eugenia Rozier Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Peggy Mays Wilson of Lyons; three children, Cynthia G. McLain and husband Jeff of Vidalia, Benjamin Wilson and wife Holly of Shenyang, China, and Courtney “Bill” Wilson, USN and wife Nicole, stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Ruth Wilson of Lyons, and Becky Wilson of Higgston; one brother, Richard “Dick” Wilson of Higgston; five grandchildren, Jeffery McLain of St. Simons Island, Eryn McLain, Mia White and husband Maurice all of Vidalia, William Wilson and Grace Wilson, both of Virginia Beach; three great-grandchildren, Myla Lain Sasser, Macks Sasser and Blake White, and several nieces and nephews.        

A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 6th, at 10:00 a.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Don Moye and Reverend Dannie Williams officiating.

The family has requested all attending the service to follow CDC guidelines, including social distancing and wearing a mask.
