Mr. Billy Merida Clayton Riner, age 92, of Lyons, died peacefully Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
Billy was a lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was the last surviving child of ten children of Jonah Lee Riner of Aimwell Road.
Billy proudly served in the US Marine Corps and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the "Chosen Few". He enjoyed telling war stories through the years to family and friends.
Billy was a mechanic most of his life. He owned his own small engine business for over fifteen years. He was introduced to archery in the '60s by his late friend, Dan Quillian. Billy was a natural born archer. He won the state championship in 1968. He enjoyed his love of archery and hunting. He shared his passion for archery and introduced many people to the sport over the years. Billy loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Linda Hughes Riner of Lyons; one son, Clay Riner, and wife Ann Riner of Cumming; two granddaughters, three grandsons; three great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 15th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Efton Green officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
