Mr. William Walter “Bill” Wilcher, age 80, of Lyons, died Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was born and raised in Swainsboro, and lived in Toombs County most of his life. He was an automotive mechanic most of his life, working as a mechanic at several businesses, including Precision Tunes in Augusta. He was a member of New Beginning Church of God in Lyons; and he enjoyed fishing and building computers. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Barwick; parents, William and Dessie Wilcher; and a son-in-law, Gary Kirkland.
His family includes his wife of forty-four years, Lilly Collins Wilcher of Lyons; five children, Steve Kersey and wife Sandy of South Carolina, Rebecca Kirkland of Alabama, Rachel Kirkland and Joe Roberts of Reidsville, Andy Wilcher of Lyons, and Jennifer Kinsey and husband Michael of New York; three sisters, Susie Mae Faircloth of the Norristown Community, Betty Mitchell of Emanuel County, and Helen Lovett; twelve grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
