Mrs. Beverly Clark “Doodle” Matthews, age 50, of the Normantown Community, died Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief battle with Covid. She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and a 1988 graduate of Lyons Senior High School and a graduate of Southeastern Technical Institute in Vidalia. She was a homemaker, and attended Christ Sanctified Holy Church. She enjoyed fishing; she loved everyone, and her family unconditionally, especially her grandbabies. She is preceded in death by her father, Doyle Carswell Clark, Sr.; brother, Doyle Carswell “Charlie” Clark, Jr.; and sister, Kimberly Ann Clark Burton.
Her family includes her husband of thirty years, Daniel “Boonie” Matthews; two children, Justin Matthews and wife Jordan, all of Normantown, and Dawn Matthews Graham and husband Richard of Lyons; her mother, Patricia Clark of Lyons; six grandchildren, Cali Love, Coewyn Manring, Caedyn Manring, Ava Matthews, Benjaemyn Graham, and Oakley Allie-Ann Graham; one sister, Sandra Clark; one brother, Otis Clark and wife Cheryl, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 and again at the cemetery on Thursday from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, at 3:00 p.m. at the Ohoopee Community Cemetery with Pastor Michael Godbee officiating.
