Mrs. Beverly Yvonne Coleman, 72, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at her residence in Vidalia after a short illness. She died peacefully surrounded by her children and her beloved caretakers.
She was born July 24, 1952, to the late Moses Matthew Coleman, III and Eleanor Gardner Coleman of Lyons and Atlanta, respectively. Beverly’s father worked for government contractors, and she lived in both Boston, MA and Huntsville, AL prior to her family returning home to work in the family businesses. After returning to her paternal home, Beverly grew up in Vidalia and enjoyed many years living close by her grandparents, Moses M. Coleman Jr., Alice McCorkle Coleman, and her Uncle Dan. Following her marriage to the late Guyton L. Branch, of Baxley, she lived in what today is the last standing structure on the original Coleman family farm on Highway 280. Beverly was a graduate of Vidalia High School and Georgia Southern University, where she received a Master's in Education. In addition to raising her two children, Beverly worked as an educator with the Vidalia City Schools, for the Chamber of Commerce, for her family’s distribution businesses and owned and operated a local gift shop. Beverly loved horses from childhood and rode and enjoyed horses until she was unable to ride. She enjoyed crafts and spent most of the latter part of her life taking in the scenery and comfort of her home and surrounding property.
She was proud of her children and grandchildren and would brag on them often. The last several years of her life, she was confined to her bed and enjoyed the company of three wonderful women who cared for her until her last breath, Jackie Coleman, Mary Stokes, and Helen Miller.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Matt and Kathy Coleman, and her husband Howard Lemuel McDaniel.
Survivors include her children, Thomas “Tommy” and his wife Sarah Branch, Richard “Ricky” Branch, all of Savannah; three grandchildren, Asa and Anna Branch and Brooklyn Quigley-Branch; two brothers, Steve Coleman and Larry Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private graveside ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mercy Ministries at themercyministries.org.
