Beverly Carey Obituary

Mrs. Beverly Ann Carey, age 70, of Glenwood, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah after a sudden illness. She was a native of Montgomery County where she grew up, and later attended Appling County High School where she played basketball. She graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1973, and had lived in Glenwood since 1974. Earlier in her life, Beverly worked at several area garment manufacturers, Glenwood Nursing Home, and in 2000, she founded the Bulldog Grill Restaurant in Alamo, which she and her husband owned and operated until 2020. She was a member of Snow Hill Community Church near Glenwood. She enjoyed fishing at the river, playing the guitar, singing gospel music, sports, particularly the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved checking on her family, morning and night.

She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Carey; parents, Frank Tharpe and Martha Arnold; and sister-in-law, Janice Tharpe.

Mrs. Carey is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Jerry Carey of Glenwood; one daughter, April Carey Sanders and husband Jason of the Long Pond Community; daughter-in-law, Haley Johnson Carey of the Gray’s Landing Community; three grandchildren, Kayleigh Sanders of Long Pond, Bralie Carey and Malie Carey, both of Gray’s Landing; seven siblings, Wade Arnold and wife Frances of Cedar Crossing, Randy Tharpe and wife Lori of Brooksville, Florida, Theresa Johnson and husband Gail of Mt. Vernon, Lewis Tharpe of Soperton, Lodus Tharpe and wife Betty of Mt. Vernon, Wendell Tharpe and wife Denise, and Lynette Vann and husband Mickey, all of Glenwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 11th, 2026, at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood City Cemetery.
