Betty Jo (Guthrie) Parrish

Mrs. Betty Jo Guthrie Parrish, age 75, of Lyons, died Thursday, September 9, 2021, at her residence after an extended illness.  She was born in Athens, Alabama, moved to Georgia as a child, and later moved to Toombs County in the late 1960s.  She worked at Oxford in Vidalia and Lyons for sixteen years.  She enjoyed fishing, yard work, and flowers; and was a Baptist by faith.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Parrish; her son, Johnny McClung; parents, Calvin Maple Guthrie and Irene Reece Guthrie; siblings W.D. Guthrie, Dennie Guthrie, Larry Guthrie, Tony Guthrie and Harold Guthrie.

Her family includes her daughter, Sherry Willis and fiancé Craig Smith of Vidalia; one brother, Curtis Guthrie of Dublin; two sisters, Ann Hutcheson of Vidalia and Bobbie Nowling of Dublin; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be on Monday at the Lyons City Cemetery.
