Ms. Betty Jean Cowart Drew, age 76, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, following an extended illness. She was a native of Tattnall County and grew up in Collins. She was a 1965 graduate of Collins High School and later graduated from Swainsboro Tech with a degree in Nursing. She was an LPN, she nursed for many years at the Bethany Home in Vidalia and more recently taught nursing at Swainsboro Tech. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her father, Gordon Cowart; mother, Jeanette Tyson Galbreath; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Melissa Dailey Gordy.
Her family includes two sons, Phillip Gordy of Millen and Terry Gordy of Vidalia; one brother, Billy Cowart and wife Sue of Kingsland; and three grandsons, Shawn Phillip Gordy and wife Elle of Texas, Ryan Phillip Gordy and Kelly D. Gordy, both of Vidalia.
