Mrs. Betty Jane Kersey, age 80, of Lyons, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons most of her life. She worked with Concerted Services in Vidalia and previously worked in the textile industry. She was a member of Lyons Free Will Baptist Church, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Henry Kersey; parents, Ira Seaburn Reese and Mary Ann Dukes Reese; two sisters, Orea and Louise; and six brothers, Beamus, Henry, Joseph, Edward, John Lee and Arthur.
Mrs. Kersey is survived by four children, Seaburn Franklin and wife Colette of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann NeSmith of Baxley, Gwen Franklin and Mark Willis, and Janice Stallings; one step-daughter, Ann Zachary, all of Lyons; one brother, Paul Reese of Pembroke; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from noon until 2:00. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing. .
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, October 2nd, at 3:00 p.m. in the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating.
