Ms. Betty J. NeeSmith, age 84, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Thursday, January 30, 2020, in The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County and grew up in the Alston area. She lived in Savannah for many years and in Cedar Crossing most of her life. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie NeeSmith; a grandson, Brad NeeSmith; her parents, Thomas Franklin Garrett and Dona Belle Moore Garrett; and seven siblings, Birdie Garrett, Elmer Garrett, Reba Coggins Thornton, Nell Harden, Janie Claxton, Willie P. Garrett and Richard “Dick” Garrett.
Ms. NeeSmith is survived by two sons, Lynn NeeSmith of the Charlotteville Community and Ricky NeeSmith and wife Glenda of the Gray’s Landing Community; seven grandchildren, Shane NeeSmith and Jodi Poole, Marty Smith and wife Kandace, Shawn NeeSmith and wife Shana, Nickie Reynolds and husband Stephen, Brandi Thompson, Kayla O’Neal and husband Sammie and Kasey NeeSmith; seventeen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1st, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cedar Crossing Church of God Cemetery with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
