Betty J. (Caraway) Jones

Mrs. Betty J. Jones, age 79, of Alston, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Baltimore, Maryland, as child moved to Miami, Florida and lived there until moving to Toombs County in 1991.  She worked with Empire Furniture Factory in Miami for several years, she was Baptist by faith and enjoyed puzzles.  Preceding her in death were two children, Susan McFarland and David Jones; parents, Johnny Donald Caraway and Margaret Virginia Wilcher Caraway; and six siblings, Oliver Caraway, Johnny Caraway, Pete Caraway, Edwin Caraway, Edith Todd, and Virginia Spainhour. 

Her family includes four children, Kenny Jones and Rose Connell of the South Thompson Community, Lori A. McLeroy and husband Ronald of Miami, Johnny R. Jones of Alston, and Peggy Jones of Killeen, Texas; one brother, Donald Caraway and wife Beverly of Reidsville; two sisters, Linda Todd and husband Johnny of Sebring, Florida, and Mary Grantham of Davie, Florida; six grandchildren, Travis McFarland, Jason McFarland, Kristen McLeroy, April Bowen, Roseanna Jones, and Emma Waters; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, June 30th, at 10:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Todd officiating.
