Mrs. Betty A. Hanberry, age 88, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born in Soperton, and lived and worked in Vidalia most of her life. She was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by two husbands, Kenneth Hightower and Chester Hanberry; parents, Mullis C. Smith and Evie Lee Underwood Smith; and three siblings, Elizabeth Ogburn, Jackie Smith, and Dale Gilbert.
Her family includes three children, Janet Moore and husband Jerry of Vidalia, Pam Kirkpatrick and husband Brad of Warren, Texas, and Bob Hanberry and wife Vanne of Savannah; five grandchildren, Brad Moore of Peachtree City and wife JoAnn of Bainbridge, Jeremy Moore and wife Hillary of Vidalia, Bria Kirkpatrick of Warren, Lane Hanberry and wife Megan and Seth Hanberry, all of Savannah; five great-grandchildren, Natalie Moore of Bainbridge, Ezra Kirkpatrick of Warren, Chandler Tapley and Jenna Kate Moore of Vidalia, Adeline Hanberry and Tripp Hanberry, both of Savannah; three siblings, Clifford Smith and wife Pam of Vidalia, Myrtle Griffin of Ellabell, and Carl D. Smith of Surrency; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, August 25th, at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Vinson officiating. Burial will follow at Ruth’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
The family would like to acknowledge her special caregivers, Ruby, Kim, Shameka, Cornelia, and Jadee, for their loving care over these many months.
