Mrs. Betty Richardson Williamson, age 88, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, following a brief illness. She was born in Berrien County, and as a child, she and her family moved to Vidalia where she lived the rest of her life. She and her late husband were owners of Glenn’s Texaco in Vidalia which they operated for forty-five years. She was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia. Betty enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, card games, caring for others, and going to the beach with her family. After her move to assisted living, she enjoyed socializing with her newfound friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost sixty-six years, Glenn Williamson; parents, Frank Richardson and Myrt Gray Richardson; and four siblings, Bill Richardson, Ann Richardson Hall and her husband Rudolph, Jimmy Richardson, and an infant brother, Johnny Richardson.
Her family includes two children, Greg Williamson and wife Lisa, and Cheryl Williamson Metzler and husband Glenn, all of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Nick Metzler and wife Luray of Kibbee, Caroline Williamson Styslinger and husband Justin of Vidalia, Lindsey Metzler Harris and husband Dustin of Higgston, and Sidney Williamson Alexander and husband Jarrett of Vidalia; eight great-grandchildren, Julia, RaeLynn, Lucas, Gray, Ansley, Samuel, Addi, and Brooks; two sisters-in-law, Ann Richardson of Vidalia, and Merle Richardson of Metter; long-time family friend, Ricky Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon, November 14th, 2024, from 12:00 noon until just prior to the funeral service at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Reverend Don Moye will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
