Obituary
Betty Jo McCumbers Thompson, age 70, of Lyons, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Folkston Park Care and Rehab in Folkston after an extended illness. She was a native of St. Augustine, Florida, living in Waycross, and in Lyons most of her life. She was a homemaker, enjoyed collecting figurines and was a member of The Rock Worship Center in Stillmore. She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie Bernice McCumbers and Lois Taylor McCumbers; and five siblings, Wayne McCumbers, Gene McCumbers, Charles “Junior” McCumbers, Carolyn McCumbers Barber and Virginia McCumbers Hamilton.
Her family includes her children, Carl McCumbers and wife Samantha of Oak Park, Gene Crews and wife Stephanie of Texas and Rachel Sapp of Vidalia; two brothers, Lonnie McCumbers and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Florida and Jackie McCumbers of Soperton; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
