Mrs. Betty Ward Patrick, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her daughter’s home, following an extended illness. She was a native of the Bear Creek Community and lived in Montgomery County most of her life. She was a 1957 graduate of Montgomery County High School where she played basketball. She worked at Ailey Manufacturing, she was lunchroom clerk at Montgomery County Elementary School and Montgomery County High School, owner of Betty’s Country Kitchen, clerk at Belk in Vidalia and Dublin, and retired as Food Service Supervisor at the Department of Corrections in Treutlen County. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Busy Bees Sunday School Class. Mrs. Betty enjoyed reading, circle words, sewing plastic canvas, embroidering, quilting, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Hawks. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Patrick, parents, Alex Ward and Maybell Cooper Ward; one sister, Lorene “Sister” Ward, one brother, Radine “Goosie” Ward; and former husband, Claxton Kittrell.
Her family includes six children, Debbie Kittrell of Vidalia, Kathy Gunn and husband Bobby of the Workmore Community in Telfair County, Randy Kittrell of Dublin, Teresa Jones of Vidalia, “Buddy” Patrick and wife Sheila of Cedar Crossing, and Lisa Graham and husband Dwayne of Normantown; two brothers, William Ward of Sandersville and Bobby Joe Ward and wife Joann of Bear Creek; one granddaughter, Ashley Thompson and husband Wendell of Bear Creek; several great-grandchildren, including Jackson, Jude, and EmmaLee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Friday morning, October 4th, 2024, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Randy McDuffie and Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
