Mrs. Betty Page Jones of Lyons, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Toombs County, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons. She graduated from Lyons High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro and a Master’s degree from Georgia Southwestern in Americus. A dedicated and caring professional educator, she taught Language Arts and French at Toombs County High School for 36 years before retiring in 1999. Following consolidation with Toombs Central, she was named the first Toombs County Teacher of the Year in 1987-88, and was selected as Toombs County High School Star Teacher in 1994. She was a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Georgia Retired Educators Association, and the Toombs County Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Jones was family-oriented with devotion to her family as her central focus in life. Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, Coach Jacky Jones of Lyons, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo and Tate Todd of Crestview, Florida, and Jill and Richy Kennedy of Marietta; three granddaughters, Krista Kennedy of Marietta, Katie and husband Josh Kelly of Marietta, Anna Todd of Crestview, Florida and one great granddaughter Charlotte Kelly of Marietta, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and LouElla Page and brother Glynn Page of Lyons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, May 23rd, at 11:00 at the Lyons First United Methodist Church with the Pastor Danny Williams of Lyons First Baptist Church and Reverend Randall Smith (retired) of Lyons First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.
