Ms. Bertha Lee Edge, age 72, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, September 16, 2024, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a native of Metter, GA, living most of her life in Mount Vernon. She was a 1970 graduate of Metter High School. She was the manager of Family Dollar in Mount Vernon for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger, Naked & Afraid, and various soap operas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Alice Screws; and brothers, Charles Morrison, James Padgett, Leon Padgett, J.W. Padgett, and Gerald Padgett.
Her family includes three daughters, Stephanie Edge and wife Vickie of Albany, Jaime Edge of McRae, and Elaine Avery and husband Sean of Vidalia; two sisters, Maude Elaine Beasley of Mount Vernon, Cynthia Bohannon of Vero Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Lamar Moore, Nathaniel Moore, Alexander Edge and fiancé Alexis, Matthew Edenfield, and Jackson Avery; one great-grandchild, Camden Edge; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, September 20th at Calvary’s Grace Baptist Church, at 1:00 p.m. until just prior to the service.
The memorial service will be held Friday afternoon, September 20th at Calvary’s Grace Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m..
The family will gather on Wednesday, September 18th, at Ailey’s Old Rosenwald School, 324 North Pine Street, Ailey, Georgia, 30410.
