Mrs. Bernice Winn, age 84, of the Five Points Community in Emanuel County, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Mt. Vernon, grew up in Darien and lived in Brunswick and Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to Portsmouth, Virginia in 1960, returned to Vidalia in 1980, and has lived in the Five Points Community since 1991. She worked as a security guard for Atlantic Wood and Thomas and Betts for many years, and formerly attended the Ohoopee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Winn and David Winn; parents, Thomas James Hall and Elmedia “Judy” Ward Hall; and four brothers, Tommy Hall, Jimmy Hall, Melvin Hall, and George Hall.
Mrs. Winn is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Bill Winn of Five Points; two children, Linda Carlisle of Five Points, and Roy Winn and wife Jenny of St. Mary’s; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Winn officiating. Burial will follow in the Brazel Connell Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
