Barbara Ann Calhoun

Mrs. Barbara Ann Calhoun, age 80, of Tarrytown, died Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She a native of Laurens County, growing up in the Rockledge Community and was a 1963 graduate of East Laurens High School. She married her husband and they lived in Tarrytown and later in Vidalia for many years before eventually returning to Tarrytown in 1988. She was an auxilian at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Kibbee. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, puzzles, and cross-stitch.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don N. Calhoun; parents, Emory S. Holmes and Ethel Whitfield Holmes; and nine siblings, Vernon Holmes, Floyd Holmes, Sr., Joyce Holmes Foskey, Ralph E. Holmes, Mattie Holmes Curry, Richard Holmes, Marjorie Holmes Garner, Gene Holmes, and Gladine “Ruby” Holmes Connell.

She is survived by three children, Donna Waller and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon, Shannon Calhoun and Hope Newsome of Ailey, and Leigh Spivey and husband Dewayne of Tarrytown; one sister-in-law, Medie Holmes of Wrightsville; six grandchildren, Charlie Waller and wife Cristy of South Thompson Community, Ashley Calhoun Durrence and husband Marty of Statesboro, Matt Waller and wife Julie of Mt. Vernon, Colby Calhoun and wife Danielle of Johnson Corner, Kelsey Helms and Conner Lowther of Higgston, and Kailey Spivey and Denton Pickle of Glenwood; fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 2025, at 2:00 at Tarrytown City Cemetery with Pastor Robert Beckum officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
