Aubrey Sands

Mr. Aubrey Sands, age 79, of Lyons, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a native of Tattnall County and grew up in the Mendes Community.  He was a 1960 graduate of Glennville High School and lived in Glennville most of his life until moving to Lyons in 2004.  He retired from Union Camp as maintenance supervisor and also served in the Army National Guard for many years.   He was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship, activities and time spent with friends and family, in addition to the many, many fishing trips over the years.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Prentice Sands and Claudine Ray Sands; three brothers-in-law, Denny Thompson, Theron Thompson and Troy Herndon.

His family includes his wife of forty-one years, Georgia Sands; two sons, Michael Sands and Tracy Sands; three grandsons, Tyler, Matthew and Dillan; three sisters, Kathleen “Sis” Thompson, Patsy Davis (Larry) and Pandy Folsom (Bobby); numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow at Zaidee Advent Christian Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
