Annie Lou (Garrett) Clarke

Mrs. Annie Lou Garrett Clarke, age 98, of Vidalia, died Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following a short illness.  She was born on November 1,1926, in Ailey, Georgia to the late Charles Gordon Garrett and Minnie Morris Garrett.  She later lived in Toombs County, Beaufort, South Carolina, and Savannah, until retiring to Lyons in 1983.  She worked at Toombs County Manufacturing in Lyons for many years, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons.  She was a great storyteller with a remarkable memory to recall childhood stories.  She was able to recall names and knew the family history of everyone she met.  She never met a stranger.  She also had an unwaveringly positive outlook on life.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lucian Curtis “L.C” Clarke; daughter, Janice Clarke Partin; great-grandson, Jacob Daniels; and six siblings, Earl Garrett, Horace Garrett, Austin “Bay” Garrett, Charles “Tig” Garrett, Gordon “Sonny” Garrett, and Nellie Mae Garrett Mosley.

Her family includes one daughter, Joyce Clarke of Augusta; three grandchildren, Wesley Daniels and wife Cori of Evans, Kristie Emery and husband Michael of Hazlehurst, and Dustin Partin of Reidsville; one son-in-law, Kendall Partin of Johnson Corner; four great-grandchildren, Carter Daniels, Nolan Daniels, Ansley Rose Daniels, and Trevor Partin; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, May 22nd, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
