Annette Thompson

December 30, 1934 ~ March 27, 2021 (age 86)

Annette Thompson, 87, of Glenwood, died peacefully, Saturday, March 27, 2021.  A lifelong resident of Wheeler County, she was the last child born to the late Joel Preston Thompson and Ella Francis Mercer.  Preceding her in death were siblings Bessie McCrackin, Jack Thompson, Sibyl Gray, Lenese Thompson, and Avery Lea Joiner.  Miss Thompson was a caregiver to her mother, father, and all her siblings. A treasure to her family, the heavenly circle is now unbroken.

A 1956 business graduate of Brewton Parker College, her degree led to a career in banking which culminated in her achievement of becoming vice president of the Bank of Ailey in the 1970s.  From birth, a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church in Alamo, she played piano for the congregation from the age of 10 into her 80s.  She also freely served as secretary treasurer of church funds for over 50 years.

Annette was the family historian and her home always the meeting place for every family gathering.  Generations of surviving nieces and nephews will greatly miss and fondly remember her many kind deeds and loving ways.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday, March 31st, 11:00 a.m. at Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Tony McCrackin officiating.
