Mrs. Ann Frost Sumner, age 86, of Vidalia, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County, growing up in the Kibbee Community and was a 1957 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She lived in Montgomery County and Vidalia all of her life. She and her late husband were owners of S&A Laundry, Super Star Foods Convenient Store, and North Street Laundromat. While managing the convenient store, Ann made countless friends as she had a genuine love for people, and after selling the business, she lost contact with them. Many of those friendships were rekindled while being a greeter at Murchison Funeral Home and Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, working at both for more than twenty years. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and she enjoyed reading, cooking, yard work, and riding the countryside.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon E. Sumner; son, Louie Powell; father who died when she was two years old, Louie Julius Frost; mother and stepfather, Eula Mae Hammock Williamson and E.J. Williamson; one sister, Mildred Frost Robinson; and brother, Jack Frost.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Angie Powell Kearney and husband Bob of Vidalia; stepdaughter, Denise Sumner Lowery and husband Bo of Lyons; five grandchildren, Dr. Justin Osborne and Wife Allison of Blackshear, Lauren Powell Hofmann and husband Russell of Athens, Slade Osborne and wife Jessica of Vidalia, Brooke Powell Cooper and husband Clint of the Center Community, and Mitchell Lowery and wife Jennifer of Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at 11:00 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30745.
The family extends their heart-felt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Addington Place of Dublin for their loving care over the last several months.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
