Mr. Albert J. Strickland, age 71, of Vidalia died Saturday, May 9, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and retired after forty years as Captain from the Vidalia Fire Department. He was Baptist by faith and enjoyed fishing and taking care of his yard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Remer Newton Strickland and Marylou Frances Parrish Strickland; two brothers, Charlie Strickland and Newton Strickland; and an infant sister, Patsy Strickland.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Mary C. Strickland of Vidalia; three children, Lori Autry and husband Wayne of Reidsville, Chris Strickland of Waynesboro, and Jessica Creamer and husband Lee of Cedar Crossing; two step-daughters, Tina W. McFarland and husband Toby of Vidor, Texas, and Kim Welch of Beaumont, Texas; four siblings, Steve Jerry Strickland, and wife Darlene Wilds Strickland of Wauchula, Florida, Ruby Strickland Faircloth of Vidalia, Harley Strickland and wife Lisa of Alston, and William G. Strickland and Darlene Billingsley of Metter; one sister-in-law, Reba Strickland of Lyons; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Providence Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Efton Green officiating.
